First post: An Introduction

Hello everyone. Welcome to my new blog. Here you'll find all kinds of reviews for DVDs that I own, ones that I plan on buying, and ones that I refuse to buy. Most importantly, you'll be told why. Perhaps it will help you as well. I know I can't be the only person in the world that thinks about the worth of the DVD before spending all of that hard earned dough. It's true, some people could care less about the various documentaries, deleted scenes and commentaries. Most of the time, that's what sells the DVD for me. I'd much rather spend 20 dollars on a 2 disc fully loaded edition of a movie than spend that same money on a bare bones version with absolutely nothing to offer.

A good example would be Babel. The first edition of this movie came out with absolutely no special features except maybe the theatrical trailer, and to me that is not a special feature. That should just be a given. For not having anything special, the p
rice was still a good 19.99 if not more in most places. Then you have to assume that there will be the dreaded double dip in the future with the tacked on "Collector's Edition" title to the disc. This did happen in the case of Babel, yet the special edition was not very widely released or advertised and contained one extra feature. The funny thing is they made it into a 2-disc package, with the second disc featuring one single documentary. This apparently warrants them to raise the price a good 10 dollars as well. While I enjoyed this movie, I did not find it worth buying either version. Some people may end up doing so just for the sake that it was a good movie. Yet, some people I know didn't even like the movie at all. So that is just an example of how my mind works when it comes to buying DVDs. If this sounds familiar at all, then keep reading my blog.
